What people are saying about Moira’s work.

Rolfing reversed a lifetime of abuse my body took from weightlifting and sports. I tried stretching into excrutiating pain, sports massages, etc., with limited results. I was basically stuck. The benefits from Rolfing was immediate after every session on every part of my body touched during the session. I wish I found it sooner!
Roberto Mangual, Professional Salsa Dancer Baila Society

For ten years I played professional soccer in the UK for Manchester United, Raith Rovers and Glentoran so, physically, I’ve had some issues. Mostly lower back, alkies and calf muscle problems. I’ve tried physiotherapy, acupuncture and osteopathy but Rolfing has been one of the best treatments I’ve had to ease my body. With Moira, it’s a very deep and accurate treatment and she goes straight to dealing with injury and stiffness of the right muscles and joints. I really only train for enjoyment and exercise now but as I get older, I find regular body work is very important to me. I definitely feel that Rolfing is best suited for my needs.
Colin Telford, Former Manchester United Player, English Premier League

After many years of biking and racing, as the result of a series of injuries, I found myself unable to ride. My discomfort brought me to physical therapists, chiropractors, rheumatologists, and massage therapists. None of them were able to get me back on the bike. I was at the end of my rope. Through my Internet research I discovered Rolfing®. I got in touch with Moira and after the first session, I knew I was on the right track. Within two weeks I was up and riding again—with no back pain. Recently, I have started racing again. Miraculous!
Julie McKenzie, Cyclist

I am an amateur boxer and mixed martial arts fighter. I tore the muscle that connected my chest to my bicep. The muscle had rolled up into a ball and I had lost a lot of flexibility. It was a horrible injury. The doctors all said I needed surgery and that it might take seven months to recover. But instead of surgery I went to Miora.  Within the third month I was able to go back to my sport. By the fourth month I was back to 100% and competing again. I’m in a rough sport, no joke. So now, if I have any kind of injury I don’t waste any time. I just go straight to her.
Roger Zapata, Boxer

I first came to Moira in 2007 as a result of a weightlifting injury. I was always a little skeptical of bodywork but Moira’s reputation brought me in. I had been having considerable pain and had difficulty in continuing my workouts. After my first visit, the pain had gone away. I actually had an amazing experience of a muscle knot just melting away under her hands. I was totally sold. The whole idea of Rolfing now fits in very well with my training program.
Anthony Ames, Personal Trainer and Former Quarterback at Brown University

Leading up to my first Ironman, I trained 12-18 hours a week and put a fair amount of stress on my body. Moira’s body work was key to helping me avoid injury and to meet my training goals with much greater ease.
Chris Bowcutt, Ironman triathlete

As an athlete, my body requires weekly attention in order to maintain its balance. Rolfing is about deep muscle tissue work, which I find invaluable in this regard. Moira’s ability to gain rapport with the muscle is unlike any other bodyworker I’ve experienced. Her firm yet gentle style works wonders.
Dawn Morrison, 5k Runner

Being a competitive speedskater in training, as well as a certified personal trainer, I found my flexibility decreasing with muscle growth. Even with stretching and self-myofacial release everyday I found that I still could not build the foundational flexibility needed for my demanding sport. Through just the first session of Rolfing with Moira I saw instant results with my posture and stabilization and was amazed with my new-found performance level. Rolfing has become an integral part of my personal training system with my clients.
Scott C. Mumford, CPT, Certified Personal Trainer and Speedskater

I am an athlete. I row on the Hudson in the mornings. I run or bike in the afternoons. I teach or attend yoga classes almost every day of the week. I hike in the Adirondacks on the weekends. My body takes a beating to keep up with what I like to do, and honestly, no amount of yoga could release my stresses and strains unless I was willing to give up my other activities…which I’m not. To thoroughly fix the damage from the roads and trails, I go to Moira Mills. I can tell her what feels knotted and what’s causing pain and within a couple of minutes, she’s working the in just the right place to dig out the muscle tensions. What delineates Moira from other massage therapists is her ability and willingness to work deep into the tissues and muscles. Many massage therapists do not dig deep enough for me to feel muscular release, but my body literally feels like a different body when Moira is done with me and I am able to keep up all of my activities with her help. She keeps a flexible schedule and has also helped me out immediately when I have pulled or strained muscles. I would recommend Moira to any athlete looking for deep tissue sports massage to keep their body in shape and running smoothly. Thanks, Moira!
Sarah Peters, Yoga Instructor and Runner

The work Moira does has helped me improve my overall performance as well as recover very quickly from both minor strains and more debilitating injuries.  I compete in a number of different sports and train hard.  Since starting to work with Moira my body feels far more balanced and fluid in general and I’ve found that when I do experience an injury she’s able to help me recover much quicker than I’ve ever been able to before.  She’s definitely shifted my perspective in terms of recovery and as well as my perspective of my limitations in terms of performance.  I’d highly recommend it to anyone who is engaged in any kind of athletic pursuit and wants to reach a higher level or even just feel better doing it!
Ben Myers, Ice Hockey, Rugby, Triathlons, and Track and Field (retired!).

I was seriously injured in 1986 in a gas explosion accident that left me with chronic neck, shoulder and back pain. I have been to chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists and of course doctors who prescribed drugs and physical therapy. Nothing I have tried has gotten me the results that one year of Rolfing has. When I come out of a session, I feel taller and my whole body feels better. Breaking up the fascia seems to be the key to feeling better. Moira Mills is an amazing Rolfer, she’s professional and a delight to know. I can’t recommend her highly enough! Thanks for everything Moira!
